Few companies still run their food-service operations themselves, but Hallmark is one of them. Hallmark’s 500-seat Crown Room, a “very traditional” cafeteria, and a Wi-Fi equipped 85-seat cafŽ, are both inside jobs. Together the eateries notch an 80% participation rate. “That’s one of the indications for us that self-operating is still a good idea for us,” says Sally Luck, Hallmark’s corporate services director. Added bonus: Employees who don’t get enough grub during work hours can pick up a take-home dinner.
